Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity was measured in the presence of the specific inhibitor of pseudocholinesterase, iso-OMPA, in plasma from patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), progressive muscular atrophy (PMA), neuromuscular disease controls, and normal controls. Both AChE and Na-K
