โฆ Synopsis
B allard Power Systems has named
German-based Heliocentris Energy Systems as a distributor of its AirGenโข portable fuel cell generator and Nexa ยฎ fuel cell power module in North America and Europe. Heliocentris specializes in providing fuel cell equipment and related training materials for the secondary and post-secondary education markets, and has sold more than 20 000 fuel cell products to date.
Under the agreement, Heliocentris will purchase AirGen and/or Nexa products over the next two years for incorporation into its product line for post-secondary institutions. At current product pricing, the deal is valued at a minimum of US$1.25m. After MGE UPS Systems and Mitsubishi Canada, Heliocentris is the third worldwide (excluding Japan) distributor appointed for Ballard's AirGen portable generator.
Ross Witschonke, Ballard's VP of sales & marketing, says that Heliocentris' expertise in the education marketplace will help 'establish Ballard technology as the standard in fuel cell curricula worldwide.' Heliocentris will offer three packages: Ballard's Nexa power module with course material and Nexamonโข software; the AirGenโข portable fuel cell generator; and a complete package consisting of the Nexa power module, AirGen generator, course material and Nexamon software. The accompanying course material is appropriate for post-secondary training in fuel cells, and includes sections on fuel cell theory, hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and hydrogen safety, as well as an instructors' guide and slide handouts for students.
