Abstract

CeCl~3~·7H~2~O has been utilized as an efficient Lewis acid catalyst for the three‐component coupling of aldehydes, aromatic amines, and diethylphosphite to produce α‐aminophosphonates under solvent‐free conditions. The advantages of this protocol are high yield, mild reaction conditions, less environmental pollution, and simple work‐up procedure. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
