โฆ Synopsis
The cation distribution has been determined in the nickel manganites NiMnzO, and Ni, sMnz zO, from powder neutron diffraction studies. It strongly depends upon the thermal history of the specimens. Additional information given by MnZt thermogravimetric oxidation experiments, has established the oxidation states of cations on the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the cubic spine1 structure.
The magnetic structures determined at 1.5 K are in good agreement with the weak values of the spontaneous magnetization.
