Synopsis
Hydrogen formed by cathodic polarization of a bright platinum electrode in CO-saturated I M H,SO, is shown to remain associated with the electrode for relatively long periods of time . Such hydrogen causes unusual open-circuit potential behaviour after anodic pulses, and can give charac teristic hydrogen regions in anodic charging curves . Potential behaviour, in itself, may not be a sufficient criterion for the absence of hydrogen at the electrode interface .
