✦ Synopsis

In the structure of the title compound, {(C 8 H 12 N)[MnCl 2 ("-Cl)(H 2 O) 2 ]} n , adjacent chains of [MnCl 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] octahedra running parallel to the c axis are connected through OÐ HÁ Á ÁCl hydrogen bonds to forms sheets perpendicular to the a axis. These sheets are separated by benzylmethylammonium cations, and an extensive network is formed via OÐHÁ Á ÁCl hydrogen bonds within the chains, and NÐHÁ Á ÁCl hydrogen bonds between the chains and the cations.
