✦ Synopsis
In the title polymer, {[Cu(C 8 H 4 O 4 )(C 6 H 9 N 3 )(H 2 O)]ÁC 6 H 9 N 3 } n , the Cu II ion approximates a distorted square-pyramidal geometry defined by an NO 4 donor set. Adjacent Cu II ions are bridged by isophthalate dianions to form a one-dimensional chain. Chains interact throughstacking interactions of 2-amino-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine rings and hydrogen bonds, to build a three-dimensional crystal structure.

The title compound, [Mn 2 (C 7 H 3 NO 4 ) 2 (H 2 O) 5 ]Á2H 2 O, has been prepared from the hydrothermal reaction of manganese(II) chloride tetrahydrate and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid. It is isostructural with the analogous Co II , Ni II , Cu II and Zn II compounds.
In the title polymer, [Cu(C 7 H 3 NO 4 )(H 2 O) 2 ] n , the Cu II ion is pentacoordinated and exhibits a distorted square-pyramidal environment formed by one N atom and two O atoms from pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylate ligands and two O atoms from coordinated water molecules.
