✦ Synopsis

The title compound, [Nd(C~2~HCl~2~O~2~)~3~(C~10~H~8~N~2~)]~n~, was synthesized by reaction of neodymium(III) dichloroacetate with 2,2′-bipyridine in a water–ethanol (1:1) solution. The structure consists of chains running along the a axis. The Nd^3+^ ions are coordinated by seven O and two N atoms, giving a distorted monocapped square antiprism.
