Effect of the process parameters and catalysts modification on the oxidative conversion of methane to C2-hydrocarbons and formaldehyde has been investigated in this paper. A qualitative correlation between surface acid-base characteristics and their catalytic properties has been established.

The catalytic behavior for oxidative conversion of methane in large oxygen excess (methane combustion) and in reducing conditions (oxidative coupling of methane) was comparatively investigated for the first time over pure and neodymium substituted zinc ferrites prepared by combustion method.
