β¦ Synopsis
T h e oxidative coupling of mcthanc has heen tested over a serics of silicalilc-aupported catalysts.
Both mcthanc and natural gas wcrc used as rcactants and thc results showcd Illat thc selectivity and the yield of ethylene wcrc always higher with natural gas as fccd. The itiflucncc of thc concentration of rnangancsc and sodium on the catalyst activity and sclectivity has hccn studied.
Experiments conducted with methane or ethane as rcactanr. i n lhc presence o r in the absence of the gas phase oxygen. showcd that adsorbed oxygen spccies plays an important rolc in the methane activation and that carbon oxidcs derive niainly l'roni the methyl radicals issuctl from methane.
Kinctic results are also rcported.
