Surface-enhanced Raman scattering spectra indicate catalytic forination of SOS-on the surface of Ag powder exposed

to SO;! gas in a He atmosphere. Thermal desorption as SO2 and oxidation to SO;-were detected and followed spectxo- scopically as the temperature was slowly raised to 108°C in an 02-containing atmosphere.
