✦ Synopsis

We describe the implementation of a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) apparatus for the synthesis of carbon nanotubes using ethanol as carbon source and evaluate several substrate materials. Carbon nanotubes are observed to form on various substrates at 750 8C after 20 min of ethanol flow. We examine substrates such as quartz, conductive glass (SnO 2 :F film deposited on soda-lime glass), porous alumina and nickel plates. As catalysts, we assess the use of cobalt and iron particles obtained from dried ethanol solutions of the corresponding acetates. Our samples are analyzed with Raman spectroscopy as well as with scanning electron microscopy.

## Abstract Cupric acetate dissolved in methanol was applied, for the first time, to the synthesizing of Y‐junction carbon nanotubes (CNTs). This was done by catalytic CVD of the methanol solution at 1000–1200 °C. Based on the bamboo structure, which was observed for the first time within Y‐junctio

## Abstract A technique has been developed to grow carbon nanotubes by flowing acetylene over pre‐reduced LaCoO~3~ catalyst in a fluidized‐bed catalytic reactor. Carbon nanotubes were characterized by means of SEM and TEM. The pre‐reduced LaCoO~3~ catalyst was found to be effective in producing car
