Abstract
Summary: This paper describes the use of pentafluorophenoxy alumoxane, an oligomeric compound containing Al(OC~6~F~5~)O units, as a cocatalyst for metallocene complexes in alkene polymerization reactions. Pentafluorophenoxy alumoxane is produced by two alternative routes. The first route consists of two consecutive reactions: (a) the reaction of AlR~3~ with C~6~F~5~OH, and (b) the reaction of the product of the first step with water. The second route is the reaction between methylalumoxane and C~6~F~5~OH.
