✦ Synopsis

Each year the California Separation Science Society (CaSSS) chooses to honor someone who has advanced our ability to separate mixtures into their constituent components. The 2007 winner is Dr. Shigeru Terabe, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Material Science of the Himeji Institute of Technology in Hyogo, Japan. Prof. Terabe is best known as the inventor of micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC), a technique that has enjoyed immense popularity and success in overcoming some of the most stubborn problems in the separation of liquid samples.
