✦ Synopsis
Olver Incorporated and UNIPRO (OU) were retained by Smithl~ine Beecham Pharmaceuticals Company (SB) to evaluate effluent discharge limits proposed by the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board (EQB) and determine the most cost effective treatment alternative that would allow the wastewater treatment plant to meet proposed discharge limits. Further, OU was directed to recommend the most cost effective treatment alternative and summarize their findings in a preliminary engineering report on November 9, 1990. Following completion of the engineering evaluations and treatability studies conducted by SB staff, a final process flow diagram (PFD) (see Fig. 1) was selected by SB. The selected alternative is currently being implemented by SB.
