Mr Shaitana est un bien étrange personnage : une longue figure, une
moustache gominée et des sourcils en accents circonflexes accentuent son
air de Méphisto. Et Mr Shaitana, véritablement diabolique, s'est plu, à
convier à dîner huit hôtes triés sur le volet : quatre spécialistes du
crime et quatre autres personnes, à ses dires, des criminels, assez
habiles pour ne s'être jamais fait pincer. Mais il ne faut pas trop
jouer avec le feu, fût-on le diable ou presque. Au cours de la partie de
bridge qui prolongera cette extravagante soirée, le rictus démoniaque
de Mr Shaitana s'effacera définitivement. On ne laisse jamais traîner
d'armes potentielles en présence d'aussi éminents spécialistes !
