Abstract
Bei kurzer Einwirkung von Bromsuccinimid auf β‐Carotin in Gegenwart von Alkohol (C~2~H~5~OH, CH~3~OH) und nachfolgender Behandlung des Reaktions‐produktes mit starken Bason (N‐Äthylmorpholin, N‐Äthylpiperidin usw.) bilden sich 4‐Äthoxy‐ und 4,4′‐Diäthoxy‐β‐carotin bzw. 4‐Methoxy‐ und 4,4′‐Dimethoxy‐β‐carotin; ferner 4‐Keto‐4′‐methoxy‐β‐carotin bzw. 4‐Keto‐4′‐äthoxy‐β‐carotin, sowie 4,4′‐Diketo‐β‐carotin und Retro‐dehydro‐carotin.
