Abstract
Durch Autoxidation von Axerophtyl‐triphenylphosphoran (6) erhält man β‐Carotin (7). Beim Arbeiten nach der Natriumalkoholatmethode in tritiummarkiertem Alkohol läßt sich über ein Gleichgewicht von Ylid 1 und Phosphonium‐alkoholat 9 leicht tritiummarkiertes β‐Carotin darstellen. Die Behandlung von Axerophtyl‐triphenylphosphonium‐perjodat (5, X = JO~4~) mit Lithiumäthanolat führt ebenfalls zum β‐Carotin (7).
