The Schlack-Kumpf degradation, also called the isothiocyanate method, is thought to be a promising approach to chemical C-terminal sequencing of peptides and proteins. The derivatizing reagent is most crucial to this method. A new derivatizing reagent, triphenylgermanyl isothiocyanate (TPG-ITC), has
