Carbene Complexes in Organic Chemistry

Carbene complexes have been important to the ®eld of organic chemistry since the ®rst discovery that copper salts catalyze the elimination of nitrogen from diazo compounds. Since the ®rst discovery of stable carbene complexes by Fischer in 1964, de®ning and controlling the reaction pathways for these complexes has been a major activity of numerous research groups. In this Symposium-in-Print, studies of the reactivity of carbene complexes by a worldwide array of some of the leading authors in the ®eld will be presented.
