Two novel C 69 carotenoids containing an a-tocopherol moiety, named pittosporumxanthins A1 (1) and A2 (2), have been isolated from the seeds of Pittosporum tobira. Their structures were elucidated by NMR and CD spectral analysis and chemical means.
