β¦ Synopsis
For two liquid films adsorbed onto two flat substrates, at disfilm-substrate systems face each other across an intervening tances below some threshold, sudden formation of a liquid bridge undersaturated vapor (or solution). The symbol L is used between the two substrates occurs that should be observed by varito represent substrate-substrate distance. The substrates, the ous force-measurement apparatus such as the surface force appaliquid films, and the intervening vapor are modeled as a ratus and atomic force microscopy. This transition was examined continuum, incompressible media with constant bulk densiby a simple mean-field model of fluid confined within a slit-type ties and sharp interfaces. The whole system is assumed to pore, and semiquantitative assessment of the condensation disbe in contact with a reservoir of fluid at temperature T and tance was made.
