s disease is characterized by an increased production of glucocorticoids by the adrenal glands secondary to excessive pituitary secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). Glucocorticoids are known to exert antiinflammatory effects in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We describe herein a patient with severe RA that entered remission with the onset of Cushing's disease. Her articular symptoms recurred when the cortisol level was normalized with medical therapy.
