โœฆ Synopsis

A circuit is described that, with only modest constraints, allows a computer clock signal derived from a crystal to be started at an arbitrary time and later be stopped. The clock may not be practical in the form described, but does demonstrate the existence of a "stoppable" crystal clock, a device that may be useful in the design of failure-free communication links in multiclock systems.
