✦ Synopsis
The susceptibility of gadolinium sulphate has been measured with an induction coil surrounding a coaxial cylinder of .gadolinium sulphate in fields perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder caused by an electromagnet. the measuring field of the coil being comparatively small. From the results, values of S n --S O and CAT --C o were deduced. The latter were compared with calorimetric results and were found to be in good accordance with them. Finally, several particulars have been discussed, which complicate this simple method of measuring susceptibilities ~) if an electromagnet is used.
