โฆ Synopsis
We propose an analytic traffic model for CDMA cellular mobile communication networks in which the number of available channels for each cell depends on the number of conversations in progress in neighboring cells. We assume that mobiles move probabilistically across cell boundaries. The transition of state for the number of calls in each cell then forms a birth-and-death process. The generation rates of hand-over calls are determined numerically by other traffic parameters. We evaluate the probabilities of call loss, forced termination, and call completion, and compare with those for FDMA networks in which the number of available channels is fixed. We have observed that the capacity of CDMA scheme is larger than that of FDMA. The results of our analysis agree with those of the simulation.
