Capillary electrokinetic chromatography (EKC) and capillary electrochromatography (CEC), which have in common, among other things, solute partitioning between two different phases in the capillary column, are increasingly used in micro-analytical separations. To recognize the importance of both techniques and provide the reader of the Journal Electrophoresis with a perspective of the current trends in EKC and CEC, a Paper Symposium issue entitled "CEC and EKC" is being prepared to include top of the line research papers from experts in the field. This will be the Seventh time that Electrophoresis will publish a special on the topic of CEC and EKC.
