โฆ Synopsis
either in-house products or designed to run on workstations and, consequently, are either not in the public domain or are very expensive. Mannequin offers a wide range of functions which can be used in ergonomics studies. There are some limitations to the depth with which the functions offered can be used, but they provide a very useful set for product evaluation. Mannequin is compatible with many CAD packages, and so can be used in the ergonomic assessment of CAD models, allowing ergonomics to be applied at the initial draughting stage of product design. For the most part, Mannequin is easy to use and does not require significant training time. Having said this, the user may need to spend time practising before the package can be used 'in anger', although previous CAD experience may be of use in this respect. In conclusion, after some initial teething trouble we were pleased with the Mannequin package, and at around ยฃ600 consider it a useful addition to the ergonomics toolkit.
