β¦ Synopsis
A method has been devised, and examples given, for determining the normalized steady state population distribution, hi, of multilevel maser systems, "by inspection" of the system energy-level diagram. Using this method, it is also possible to determine from inspection, such other parameters as the population differences, saturation parameter, pump power absorbed, spin temperature, and signal power output. The method includes consideration of thermal relaxation transitions and radiation-induced transitions, and is not restricted to the linear approximation to the exponential Boltzmann relationship. Within the restrictions stated, this method is valid for the same conditions for which the rate equations are valid. Possible extensions of the method to more general cases and to machine computations are indicated.

It is shown that the restriction to adiabatic perturbations in concentration-temperature space as frequently made in the stability analysis of distributed reaction systems is unnecessary. By means of a carefully chosen Lyapunov functional, it is shown that non-adiabatic perturbations can be handled
## Abstract ## Background: A flow cytometry count of reticulocytes (RET) provides information about distribution of signal emitted by reticulocyte RNA. A new method of determination of the RNA degradation rate in RET is provided. This technique allows one to determinate the age distribution of RET
