✦ Synopsis

The work deals with the eigenvalue problem of ordinary dierential equations with non-linear dependence of the equation coecients on the parameter. A set of theorems for the eigenvalue estimators is presented, on the basis of which a new algorithm can be proposed for determining the ®rst eigenvalue of a ®nite-dierence equation. The algorithm is demonstrated on examples serving as benchmark problems.
