โฆ Synopsis
An interferometric optical isolator that employed a nonreciprocal phase shift was studied. The nonreciprocal phase shifts in magneto-optic waveguides were calculated at a wavelength of 1.55 lm. The magneto-optic waveguides included a CeY 2 Fe 5 O 12 (Ce:YIG) layer as either a guiding layer or a cladding layer. When the Ce:YIG layer was used as a cladding layer, the nonreciprocal phase shift had its maximum with a high-refractive index guiding layer. The magneto-optic waveguide with SiO 2 /Si/Ce:YIG structure is a practical and promising candidate for a nonreciprocal phase shifter in the interferometric optical isolator.
