✦ Synopsis
We report values of the magnetic hyperpolarixability anisotropies Av (relevant to the Cotton-Mouton effect) for He, Ne and Ar. They were calculated by using a mixed analytic-numeric method at both the SCF and MP2 levels of approximation. Results pertaining to a static electric field and six optical fields (corresponding to six common laser sources) are given. The calculation for Ar represents the first entirely ab initio evaluation of Aq for this atom.
