Average M shell fluorescence yields (w M ) and the total M shell x-ray fluorescence (MXRF) cross-sections (s x M ) at 6 keV were calculated theoretically for elements with 29 ≤ Z ≤ 100. These calculated values were compared with other experimental and theoretical values.

L shell Ñuorescence yields were measured for Au, Hg, Tl, Pb, Bi, Th and U using a Ge(Li) detector. The targets were excited using 59.5 keV c-rays from a 241Am radioactive source of strength 400 MBq. The results obtained were compared with the theoretical values and other measured values. This compar
