✦ Synopsis

Methods of calculating

the transmission loss for single and double walls arc presented. These methods are developed using a statistical energy analysis (SEA). In principle the methods are basedon separate calculations of resonant andnon-resonant transmission for frequencies less than the critical jiequency, f , of the panels and calculation of onI)! resonant transmission ftir frequencies equul to, und greater than, f,.

Comparisons hetM~een calculated and measured results show good agreement.

A ccrlculntion method is also presented-for the transmission loss of triplepanels, for frequencies greater than the cut-qff:frequenc:1afor the cavities. For,frequenries less thun the cut-offfrequencyfor the smcrllest cavity depth it is shown thut, in most cuses, the @kct of the middle panel is very slight. NOMENCLATURE

The convergence of coupled-cluster equations for several cases, CCD, CCSD, CCSDT-n and the full CCSDT is investigated. The coupled-cluster method with singte, double and triple excitations (CCSDT or SUB3) is applied to a system with up to six electrons outside a closed shell. A method is presented by which the dominating term in the expression for TL or IL can be set up without using the complete equation system. This dominating term is the one that contains the highest power of Ac/A p (chamber area divided by pipe area). The approximation is valid everywhere except at t
