✦ Synopsis

The A 2 H-X 2y~ and B 2 E-X 2 E transitions of Call are observed in a pulsed electlical discharge and after excitation of the 4s4p 3P I state of Ca by a pulsed laser (657.28 nm). The temporal behavior of these emissions in the electrical post-discharge shows that the excitation mechanisms imply one and two metastable 4s4p 3p states.
