β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Applications of the CAESURA experiment to studies of helical jump motions in semiβcrystalline polymers are described. CAESURA is a recently proposed magic angle spinning exchange NMR experiment which provides detailed information about the timescale and geometry of molecular motions. The potential utility of CAESURA in studies of helical jump motions in a range semiβcrystalline polymers is illustrated using simulated data. In addition, a full experimental investigation of isotactic poly(propylene) is described which confirms the geometry of the helical jump motion and provides a measurement of the jump rate.
