Detailed structural analysis of the northern part of the Cotentin Peninsula provides evidence for major Variscan reworking of Proterozoic structures. Two stages in the regional evolution of the Variscan orogeny are distinguished: the Palaeozoic Siouville Syncline was formed before the development of
