Over the next three years ยฃ.6 million is to be spent to increase awareness of CAD/CAM in UK industry. Minister for Information Technology Kenneth Baker wants to close what he sees as a widening gap between UK and foreign manufacturing industries in uptake of new technology. He proposes to hold one-day seminars for managing directors using case study material from companies with practical experience.
Grants for firms who want to undertake consultancy studies will be available. Funds are also available from the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Requirements Board and the Product and Process Development Scheme.
