✦ Synopsis

The c-yesl and bcl-2 genes have been independently mapped analysis showed the breakpoint to be at 14q32.3 and 18q21.3 at the same position of the chromosome band, 18q21.3, which [t(14;18) (q32.3;q21.3)] ( Ohno et al., 1985). The FL-18EB is a breakpoint in the t(l4;la) chromosomal translocation. cell line, a derivative of FL-18, was established in vitro by High-molecular-weight genomic. DNAs and mRNA i!olated EBV infection. One half of the FL-18EB cells have a tetraploid virus harboring FL-I8EB cell line, which carried the t(14;18), rangement, the chromosome 18-specific probe b (bcL2) re-infected with EBV (Reedman and Klein, 1973). The Kobavealed one rearranged fragment after E ~~R I , B~,,,HI, psfl and yashi, I T 0 and L-1091 cell lines were isolated in our labora-S d digestion. Therefore, breakage of chromosome 18 in the tory from Japanese patients with undifferentiated lymphoma t( 14; 18) occurred at the Ssti fragment containing the probe b of the Burkitt and non-Burkitt types. The KIS-1 cell line was sequence on the bcl-2 gene. The transcript of c-yes was unde-established from diffuse large-cell lymphoma.

tectable, whereas active transcription of bcC2 was observed

These cell lines were maintained in RPMI 1640 medium in the FL-18 and FL-18EB cell lines at a higher level than in other types of lymphoma cell line. These data suggest that with lo% Serum under standard the c-yes-I is not involved in the t(14;18), and the 2 genes conditions.

Southern blot analysis located at 18q21.3 are independent sequences. from a folllcular lymphoma cell line FLm18 and an Epsteln-Barr karyotype with the t( 14; 18) in duplicate (Fig. 1). The African were analyzed. Although there was no detectable c-yes rear-Burkitt lymphoma lines, Daudi and Raji, were
