## Abstract In this paper we shall introduce the variety __WQS__ of weakโquasiโStone algebras as a generalization of the variety __QS__ of quasiโStone algebras introduced in [9]. We shall apply the Priestley duality developed in [4] for the variety __N__ of ยฌโlattices to give a duality for __WQS__.

Let A be a simple C*-algebra of real rank zero and stable rank one. We show that, for any normal element x # A with
there is a sequence of normal elements x n # A with finite spectra such that x= lim n ร
x n .
We show this for more general C*-algebras. We also point out that the condition that A is simple cannot be removed.

We give an introduction to the theory of weak Hopf algebras proposed as a coassociatiยจe alternative of weak quasi-Hopf algebras. We follow an axiomatic approach keeping as close as possible to the ''classical'' theory of Hopf algebras. The emphasis is put on the new structure related to the presence
We study a symmetric Markov extension of k-algebras N โ M, a certain kind of Frobenius extension with conditional expectation that is tracial on the centralizer and dual bases with a separability property. We place a depth two condition on this extension, which is essentially the requirement that th
## Abstract In this paper, weakly homogeneous generalized functions in the special Colombeau algebras are determined up to equality in the sense of generalized distributions. This yields characterizations that are formally similar to distribution theory. Further, we give several characterizations o
All rational semisimple braided tensor categories are representation categories of weak quasi Hopf algebras. To prove this result we construct for any given category of this kind a weak quasi tensor functor to the category of finite dimensional vector spaces. This allows us to reconstruct a weak qua
