Bayer builds world-scale TDI plant in Shanghai

B ayer MaterialScience plans to start constructing a state-ofthe-art world-scale facility for the polyurethane raw material toluene diisocyanate (TDI) at its integrated production site in Shanghai, China, later this year.

The new plant, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2010, will have an initial capacity of 250 000 metric tons per year.

The TDI project is part of a wide-ranging investment programme at Bayer's integrated site in Shanghai. Bayer plans to invest 2.1 billion in the site up until 2012.
