Abstract

The term ‘bed’ has a variety of meanings in different countries. In central Europe, ‘bed’ is used for a bedstead with a mattress, a duvet and a pillow, Following clear definitions of the components of a ‘bed’ the author considers methods for testing the burning characteristics of beds and reports on experiences with model beds in fire tests.
