✦ Synopsis

In 1978 and 1979, two Rhodesia Airways passenger Viscount planes were shot down - the first was the Hunyani and the second the Umniati. Some survivors of the Hunyani escaped into the bush; those who remained with the plane were slaughtered by terrorists who had shot the plane down. There were no survivors of the Viscount Umniati. Bumi is a work of fiction, imagining a third shootdown, the Viscount Bumi, where two of the survivors escaping into the bush become separated from the main group. The two, both women from vastly different backgrounds, must brave the African bush, terrorists, and opportunistic poachers while finding their way back to civilization.
