Coefftcients for the diffusion of Hf rsr (43 day half-life, mein gamma peak at 482 keV) were measured in the [OOOI] and [1 lZO] directions in oriented single crystals of h.c.p. Hf-2.1 wt. % Zr over a temperature range of 1.0X-1610°C.

A lathe sectioning technique was used in conjunction with the thin&m solution. Self-diffusion coefficients at temperatures between 1220 and 1610°C for diffusion parallel and perpendicular to the c axis, respectively, may be expressed as follows: Dlfc = 0.86 exp [( -88,400 + 3200)/Rq cm2/sec Dlt = 0.28 exp [( -83,200 f ~S~)~R~] cm2fseo *
