✦ Synopsis

In this communication, we first used [60]fullerene as initiator to initiate the bulk polymerization of N-vinylcarbazole (NVC) monomer at 70Β°C (slightly higher than the melting point temperature, 65Β°C, of NVC). A reasonable polymerization reaction pathway via C 60 -NVC ion-radical pairs is suggested.

N-Vinylcarbazole (VCZ) was solution polymerized in 1,1,2,2,-tetrachloroethane (TCE) at 30, 40, and 50Β°C using a low-temperature initiator, 2,2'-azobis(2,4dimethylvaleronitrile) (ADMVN); the effects of polymerization temperature and concentrations of initiator and solvent were investigated. In this study, a novel procedure to increase the yield of the non-crosslinked, photoconductive, white form of linear poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (LPVCz) is reported. The yield of LPVCz is increased (up to 53%) by the addition of catalytic amounts of ceric ammonium nitrate as an oxidant during the electro
