โœฆ Synopsis


Valence band photoemission spectra obtained during various stages of the reaction of Na with C6,, show contributions not only from the two known bulk phases, weakly metallic Na,C,O and insulating Na&&, but also from the surface layer. The surface has a unique spectrum, with split t,. band, during the early stages of doping. In the presence of excess Na on the surface of Na,&, charge donation into the tl, band of CsO has been observed
