✦ Synopsis

This brief paper examines the results in Parthasarathy's papers published earlier in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence. In these papers an extension to Allen's interval-interval temporal relations is proposed, so as to include interval-event (i.e. interval-point), event-interval, and event-event relations. However, this extension is based on intuitive arguments, and it is shown in this paper to be incomplete and inconsistent. Parthasarathy's results are compared with an axiomatic approach given previously by the authors, which overcomes these deficiencies.
