โœฆ Synopsis

Measurements are presented of the advection, production, diffusion and dissipation terms of the mean square.temperature fluctuation budget for a two-dimensional jet. Diffusion is more important than advection near the jet centreline. The measured dissipation or destruction, determined using all three components, enables satisfactory closure of the budget in the region of the jet that is free of flow reversal. The difference between the measured dissipation and an estimate, based on local isotropy, is significant across the jet.

The effects of the streamline curvature and finite edge velocity on the flow field of a turbulent plane jet in cross-flow are studied numerically by incorporating the curvature effect in the k-e turbulence model. The improvement in the predictions by the streamline curvature model is assessed by com

The initial stages of the devolatilization of three United Kingdom pulverized coals have been studied in a coal-laden turbulent air jet emerging into the combustion gas environment produced by a methane-air flat flame burner. The temperature range provided by these flames was between 1670 and 1870 K
