Abstract

Buccal uptake, partition characteristics, ionization constants, and urinary excretion were studied for zipeprol and two of its metabolities. Buccal uptake, measured in a single subject, was found to be correlated with n‐heptane/water (ph 7.4) partition values of the compounds, and with proportional excreation of the unchanged drug. The importance of the shape of buccal uptake‐pH curves in the prediction of absorption and excretion of these compounds is discussed.
