✦ Synopsis
Bromine hyperfine and quadrupole fine structure has been observed in the 3 cm hIODR spectrum of the photoescited 3B1u state of symmetric tetrabromobenzenc (s-TBR) in a durene host crystal at liquid helium temperatures. A preliminary analysis of the observed structure yields the two in-planevaluesof the bromine hypersne tensor ldu/gpl = 10.3 and IAJgpl = 16.5 G (for" Br), and a comparison of these vaIueswith Thor recently observed for tieebromomaleic acid radical su~~csts that the correct zero-field scheme in tl!e lowest triplet state of s-TBB is T~V > ';ri > 2.
